Suit to Enjoin Legislative Council Investigation of Gov. Palin

Six Interior Alaska residents, including former Republican Representative Bob Bettisworth, Fairbanks attorney Tom Temple, and local businessperson Jim Dodson, have sued Special Counsel Stephen Branchflower and the Alaska Legislative Council.  Their suit in Fairbanks Superior Court seeks ”to secure their rights as taxpayers and citizens of the State of Alaska to be free from unauthorized, wasteful, and unlawful government spending.”  The Complaint alleges, in passing, that Branchflower resides in South Carolina and “was unlicensed to practice law in Alaska until August 5, 2008, but apparently began his legal work with Legislative Council on or about July 31, 2008.”

Fairbanks attorney and former House candidate Joseph Miller represents the citizens.

The Complaint is here, courtesy of the Anchorage Daily News’ website.  The case has been assigned, at least initially, to Judge Randy Olsen.

A different suit, seeking the same remedy, was filed in Anchorage Superior Court by five Republican legislators, represented by Anchorage attorney Kevin Clarkson, according to the Daily News.
