Alaska Legal Miscellanea: Ethics, and Disruptive Behavior
Attorney General’s recommendations on Alaska Executive Ethics Act: Daniel Sullivan’s recommendations appear at 2009 WL 2421354 (Aug. 5, 2009). He recommends additional confidentiality protections (including bars on frequent filers) , and mechanisms to provide post-vindication reimbursement of attorney fees to respondents.
Disruptive courtroom behavior: A 9th Circuit panel has affirmed U. S. Judge John Sedwick’s response to a criminal defendant’s disruptive behavior, and the defendant’s reference to his own prison garb (he chose to dress in prison attire). U. S. v. Kalilikane, 2009 WL 2413621 (9th Cir. Aug. 6, 2009)(unpub.). Erin White, Anchorage AUSA, represented the government. Meridith Ahearn from Hagans, Ahearn & Webb, represented the defendant.
